Choosing a Good Password
A good password can be summed up as one that is easy for you to remember and hard for everyone else to guess.
Since you are already on this site it is obvious you care about security and want to choose a great password. Since you are using this tool to create all of your site passwords you need only choose one secure password — your master password. Since this is the key that opens every web site door you must have an excellent password. You will generate your site passwords from this password, so it doesn’t need to be ridiculously secure, but it must be something that nobody else knows or can guess.
We suggest you use either a short cryptic password or a long password such as a sentence or a phrase.
Here are some examples (but do not use these):
- times!ROMAN (easy to remember first part lower case, then some punctuation, then upper case)
- mary#johnny#fido! (use your kids and dog but with hash marks in between and punctuation at the end)
- I love Summer! (notice the punctuation and mix of upper and lower case)
- ponderable1311 (short word that nobody would guess plus a short number)
Remember, the point is to use a password that is not used anywhere else. Never break this rule and you will guarantee a highly secure password environment for everything that requires a password!
